Recently, I stumbled upon this Ciebon dress at Nordstrom and knew I needed to get it. The taupe stitching on the black background, the tinny beads on the end of the sash and the wooden beads on the tassels at the neckline were simply irresistible. And the best part…it is all cotton, the bodice and skirt are fully lined…and it has pockets!
Even though it is cotton; it is a heavier, thicker material and will not be something that I reach for in the hazy, hot, humid summer months. Still, it will be an excellent addition to my spring wardrobe and will be worn on repeat.
Right now, the weather here in New England is mild (for us at 40° F) and rainy as the beginning of spring tends to be. This dress paired with a pair of boots and either a tote or clutch will be ideal for office to dinner. Simply throw on a trench or coat to stave off the chill in the air. I plan on wearing it with my Azalea Wang boots that I also found at Nordstrom with my Naghedi tote (I have the medium tote which is no longer available – the large is and is linked below).
As we progress through the season and the temps begin to climb, I’ll be switching out the boots for ballet flats. These Splendid woven ones are perfectly adorable (also available at Nordstrom) with a tote that matches the taupe of the dress. The bag I have in my closet was purchased at a boutique in Woodstock, VT., but I found a great alternative for you. These changes will make a foolproof weekend outfit for brunch on Saturday or church on Sunday and all the afternoon activities that follow both.
Finally, towards the end of the season, sandals and a woven bag will make an appearance. I’m reaching for some comfy Dolce Vita sandals and the Clare V Pot de Miel bag both of which I recently purchased for the spring/summer months. A polished yet casual look to wear to the farmers market, local craft fair or any of those outdoor activities that begin to open up signaling that winter is far behind us.
